I am so damn excited about this program!! My Beachbody journey began with Tony Horton’s P90X3 program over two years ago. To say that these home workouts have changed my life is an understatement. Always the fitness fanatic, I’m game for trying any fitness trend that’s out there. Indoor cycling, barre, Crossfit, kettle bell & even pole-dancing workouts – you name it and I have tried it! When I stumbled on P90X3 it was a perfect moment in time for at-home workouts. With two little kids at home during a VERY snowy winter, fitting in exercise was simply not happening. Suffice to say, here I am two years later and I’m still doing at-home fitness programs. I have more time to get to classes now that the kids are in school for longer periods of time but all of these programs have provided so much variety that I never get sick of them AND, I’m in better shape sweating it out for 30-minutes at home instead of schlepping to classes here and there on someone else’s schedule.
Tony Horton’s newest program, 22 Minute Hard Corp just launched this past week and you better believe that I was one of the first to order up! Thanks to Beachbody’s On Demand streaming capabilities, 24 hours later I was able to pull up my new workouts and see what kind of crazy I could get myself into in 22 minutes! Think bootcamp style workouts that include cardio, HIIT, resistance and core work. Simple but effective moves (squats, lunges, burpees, bear crawls & push-ups) that leave you sweaty in no-time. What’s not to love?! Forever the cardio-junky, the addition of resistance training into my routine has given me muscles and strength that remained elusive in my 20’s, despite my long hours of workout dedication (think 20+ miles a week in Central Park and 5+ yoga sessions!). Who would have thought?!
Who can do this workout? Everyone from beginners to the more advanced fitness enthusiast. With a modifier for every move, rest assured that there is something here for everyone. With 8 different workouts how do I know what workout to do each day to maximize results? Lucky for you there is a calendar telling you exactly which workout to do on which day. Here is my Week 1 schedule:
Monday: Cardio 1 & Core 1
Tuesday: Resistance 1
Wednesday: Cardio 1 & Core 1
Thursday: Resistance 1
Friday Cardio 2 & Core 1
Saturday: Resistance 1
Sunday: Day Off/Meal Prep
Another bonus to this program is the NUTRITION PLAN. We all know that abs are made in the kitchen, right? Your results are 80% nutrition and 20% exercise? You’ve heard all that before? This program follows a portion-controlled eating plan that divides your macros up each day based on your weight and activity level. Having followed the 21 Day Fix meal plan for the past couple of years, this was an easy thing to implement. The only difference I have noticed is that this program makes it even easier and divvies up your containers for each meal FOR you. Your meals are divided into 3 meals and 2 snacks a day with suggestions as to which food groups to eat when: Veggies, Fruits, Proteins, Carbs, Healthy Fats, Seeds & Dressings and Oils & Nut butters. It couldn’t be any easier to figure out how to eat to lose weight and the meal guide has 22 great recipes to help you along. I spent 30 minutes this morning working on my meal plan and have already hit up the grocery store so I’ve got no excuse NOT to nail my nutrition this week. Fail to plan, plan to fail!
I’ll be posting my meal plans for 22 Minute Hard Corp for the next 8 weeks in my March Challenge Group. Your excuses for not having time to workout have now been thrown out the window – everyone has 22 minutes in their day to devote to better personal health and fitness and the meal plans take out any and all guesswork on how to eat clean.
