Thank god for this stuff, I mean seriously. I’ve by some miracle managed to cut most of the sugar from my life. Why? It was becoming a problem. I am just not one of those people who could have a couple squares of dark chocolate each day and call it good. I’d buy a delicious high-quality chocolate bar with every intention of it lasting a full week but more often than I care to admit, it would be gone in two days. While I advocate everything in moderation, there are definitely trigger foods that everyone has that set them off. My suggestion? Get rid of them. When moderation doesn’t work, eliminate whatever it is that is catching you up. I still eat naturally occurring sugar in fruit and I definitely still have some alcoholic beverages a few times a week but the cookies, sweets and chocolate have been nixed for a good 8 weeks now. Craziest part? I don’t even miss it or want it. I know, even I can’t believe it.
There are definitely those nights though when I really need a sweet Fix and this does the trick. Best part? It’s made up of over 70 different superfoods. This trumps a chocolate bar any day!
1 packet or scoop of Chocolate Shakeology
1 tablespoon coconut oil
- Melt the coconut oil in the microwave. Remove from microwave and stir in 1 scoop or 1 packet of Shakeology. I’ve only made this with chocolate but I guess the other flavors would work well too?!
- Pour mixture onto a piece of wax paper and spread thin. This is your chance to add any toppings you would like. I’ve done almonds but dried fruit would be equally tasty though add some sugar back into the mix.
- Refrigerate for 20 minutes and take it out and break into pieces.
Other add-in ideas: before pouring the mixture out onto the wax paper you could add peppermint or vanilla extract or perhaps a teaspoon of peanut butter (no PB2 which removes the fat and replaces it with sugar…which is worse in my opinion!).
