This food doesn’t look like food you would imagine eating on a cleanse, does it? Yeah, doesn’t to me either. And you know what? I feel awesome. I feel like I must be doing this wrong but I swear, I’m following the schedule for meals and supplements and the recipes to a “T”! The only meal that’s not pictured above is the optional afternoon snack and I had that not because I was hungry but because the idea of a chocolate superfood shake was absolutely dreamy. Hey, no sugar or dairy or alcohol for 21 days? A girl has got to live a little!
Breakfast: 1/2 cup plain organic yogurt with 1tsp pure maple syrup & oatmeal with blueberries
Lunch: Greek Salad with Chicken & Pine Nuts
Optional Snack: Chocolate Vegan Shakeology
Dinner: Southwestern Veggie Taco
Miraculously I never felt hungry all day but I can’t tell you how many times I slapped my own hand for wanting to take a bite, lick or taste of something. Oh how I wanted to lick the peanut butter off the knife as I made my son’s sandwich for school! I scolded myself for thinking of taking a handful of dry cereal as I poured it into my daughter’s bowl. Even as I was making my own lunch I wanted to snack and eat what I was prepping and chopping along the way. And the hazelnut spread I got out for my kids to dip their apples in?! I didn’t touch it! All this is to say that it’s amazing to really see and become aware of the food habits we have created. I didn’t need to eat those things and never was I starving but the ingrained habit of snacking and nibbling is real.
Day 2 done, only 19 to go!
